While these activities are fun, it requires constant adult redirection and awareness. The environment is not childproof and the risk of losing sight of your child is high. Going out in public is fun for your active toddler to explore, yet the challenges of taking your toddler out keeps you on your toes. Keeping them from running out the front door or afraid that they will run into the street. Telling them “stop touching this” or “do not touch that.”

What if we told you there was a place to take your active toddler to have a good time, while you could lounge in the café, with full view of them playing? While there are many play centers for children focusing on school aged and above, there is a growing population of indoor play spaces geared towards crawlers, toddlers and preschoolers.

Introducing MY Play Café to the Kansas City Area!

MY Play Café will offer a unique combination of a modern coffeehouse for parents with an enclosed play area for their active toddlers. Our space will be large enough for the children to run and play, yet intimate enough for adults and caregivers to relax, have a conversation, or catch up on work. We will be creating a toddler-proof environment that fosters independent play. 

We are excited to offer a place for parents to take their young children to explore a fun, exciting play area, while they relax or interact with other parents in a modern café lounge and seating area enjoying gourmet coffee, beverages, and snacks.

Hi Everyone! This is Tiffany! I am so very excited to bring an indoor playground, toddler-proof play area and coffee shop to Kansas City with my husband Brian! I am a Pediatric Registered Nurse at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Downtown Kansas City, Missouri. I taught preschool in Lee’s Summit during my early teaching career and have a degree in Early Childhood Montessori Education. As a Mom of two boys, I am always looking for places to enjoy with them. Jedi is a very active toddler and Obi loves learning how to crawl. During my visit to Las Vegas in mid-July 2019, we visited Kinderland Café and it was the most relaxing experience I have had in my parenting career. Jedi was able to play in a child friendly environment, while (surprisingly) the adults were able to sit down, catch up on life and enjoy our drinks! It did not take me long to realize that there’s nothing like this in Kansas City and knew I needed to open something like this for other parents to experience what I did that day!

The ideal location for MY Play Café in Lee’s Summit, Missouri is close to the freeway, plenty of parking and has an optimal building layout. Our team is currently working towards building the capital funding and acquiring the business loan!

Toddler-proof Play Area Coming to the Kansas City area in 2020!

MY Play Café is a unique combination of a modern coffeehouse for parents with an enclosed play area for their active toddlers. By creating a toddler-proof play area that fosters independent play, this will allow parents to take some time to relax and meet with friends if they would like. Those working can plug in and focus on a task that needs completing at our workstation overlooking into the play area. Parents can also choose to accompany their little ones in the play area.

It is important to us to create a safe, fun environment for children to play, grow, and interact. We also want to provide parents with a space they can view as their own. While mainstream coffeehouses welcome families, most do not foster a space for young children to roam freely. We have also found that most customers that go to their local coffee shop are looking for a quiet place to work. We will do whatever is required to make each individual comfortable, whether it be nursing supplies in the bathroom or allergy friendly snack choices for those with dietary limitations. The placement of items, such as electronics and drinks, will be taken into consideration in our toddler-proof design. Retail items will be placed out of the toddlers reach, reducing the need for parents to constantly follow after their child.
